HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT CUTICLE NIPPER
1. Jaw Size
- ¼ Jaw – Smallest size, best for precision work and trimming tiny areas; good for beginners and detail work.
- ½ Jaw – Most popular, balances precision with efficiency; recommended for everyday salon use.
- Full Jaw (¾ or 1) – Removes larger areas quickly; best for professionals working with experienced technique.
2. Head Shape
- Square Head – Helps reach tight corners and edges along the cuticle line.
- Round Head – Softer and smoother trimming, good for general use.
3. Length & Comfort
- 4″ (short/standard) – Easier to control, especially for small hands or precise trimming.
- 5″ (longer) – Gives more leverage and reach, preferred for professional use.
4. Spring Type
- Single Spring – Simple, lightweight, and easy to control.
- Double Spring – Provides smoother action and more durability for heavy salon use.
5. Joint Type
- Lap Joint – Overlapping arms, cost-effective and functional.
- Box Joint – More stable and durable; keeps blades aligned longer.
6. Material
- Always choose stainless steel – it resists rust, can be sterilized, and stays sharp longer.
7. Purpose & Skill Level
- Beginners / Home Use: ¼ or ½ jaw, single spring, lap joint.
- Professional Technicians: ½ or full jaw, double spring, box joint for heavy duty work.
